The research expertise of Dr. Fahrenholtz lies in the area of the processing and characterization of ceramic materials. His current research is focused on ultra-high temperature ceramics for aerospace applications and rare-earth based coatings for corrosion protection of high strength aluminum alloys. He has published over 70 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. His most highly cited works have been in collaboration with Professor Greg Hilmas and are related to the processing, densification, properties, and oxidation of zirconium diboride based ceramics.
